November 27, 2010 - "Greek Style Beef Stew" By Joseph Parish. Back in my military days I did a lot of traveling. One day I might be in Rome, another day heading towards Beirut or in a few fortunate times a lay over in beautiful Greece. For some strange and unusual reason every time our plane would transcend Greek airspace it developed a mechanical problem and forced us to land at Venizelos Airport for repairs, gee such a life. Ahhh The Taste of Mock Apple Pie
November 27, 2010 - "Ahhh The Taste of Mock Apple Pie" By Joseph Parish. Being the experimental type person which I am, I decided that this past thanksgiving I would do something different. On turkey day I created an apple pie that wasn’t apple at all. That’s right my apple pie contained no apples what-so-ever. To provide a fair playing field for the pie, I prepared my mock apple pie while my wife baked the real thing. Click here

What Secrets Lurk in the Yamantau Mountains
November 26, 2010 - "What Secrets Lurk in the Yamantau Mountains?" By Joseph Parish. If you think the massive complex featured in the movie 2012 was straight out of some writer’s imagination, think again. Years after the cold war has ended and nations around the globe are drafting plans to minimize their nuclear stockpile we realize that Russia’s top secret Yamantau Mountain project is still in full swing. With that thought in mind it appears that Russia is still preparing to launch a nuclear first strike against America if necessary. Click here
The Warrior Song
November 26, 2010 - "The Warrior Song" When singer, songwriter, producer Sean Householder saw several articles and news stories back to back on how morale is low within today's military, he found it discouraging. Although never in the Armed Forces himself, he recalls how his Grandfather and others spoke about their time in the service and how it was their honor to serve and to fight for what we all take for granted - Freedom. Here is his song and I dedicate this one to our military serving both in foreign lands and those here6at home. Click here

Do it for our Forefathers
November 25, 2010 - "Do it for our Forefathers" By Joseph Parish. Where are the values hiding such as our forefathers displayed in 1776? These were men who would stand up for their country and what it stood for. They took a stand whether it was against a foreign aggressor or a homegrown persecutor. The little man’s dignity and value were deemed worthy of our plight and concern. Nowadays it’s almost as if our people don’t care or they have lost that American backbone from past years. Click here
Grope a dee doo dah Grope a dee ay
November 25, 2010 - "Grope a dee doo dah Grope a dee ay" By Joseph Parish. My, oh my, what a wonderful day! At least that’s the way the song goes however reality approaches our senses in a slightly different fashion. We see it on the evening news reports every night; we view the issues on every current website we visit. I am talking about the ongoing TSA personnel aggression and their over zealous groping tactics. Click here

A Case of Wrong Identify
November 24, 2010 - "A Case of Wrong Identify" By Joseph Parish. I recently concluded a course of study on the basic security procedures necessary for our shipping port of entries. During the continuance of this 8 hour course it was stated over and over about the value of checking for proper identification. This is all well and good if we did not have the modern technology which we possess today. Click here

Debt and the Survivalist
November 23, 2010 - "Debt and the Survivalist" By Joseph Parish. As the story goes, there once was a survivalist named Mel Tappan who wrote books on setting up the ideal retreat. His advice to the novice was to obtain some high ground in one of the western states and construct your self a log cabin complete with an underground bunker, have a usable barn to compliment your pasture land and locate all this near a free running stream. Inverter or UPS
November 22, 2010 - "Inverter or UPS" By Joseph Parish. Last evening I had a discussion with a like minded individual who felt that he could readily use inverters and UPS units interchangeably. Although the two types of power units may share some similar characteristics they are actual two different “animal”. Click here
The Joy of Flavored Butters
November 22, 2010 - "The Joy of Flavored Butters" By Joseph Parish. We are a family that bakes the majority of our own bread ranging from the usual sandwich style to the more elaborate flavored breads. I find nothing better then to sit down and munch away on some fresh garlic or herbal flavored bread however generally it is made in quantities of two loafs. The problem with this stems from the fact that if another member of the family does not particularly like that flavor there is usually wasted bread. To remedy that problem we often use flavored butters and spread it on regular pieces of our homemade bread. Click here
Surviving the Emperors New Clothing
November 22, 2010 - "Surviving the Emperors New Clothing" By Joseph Parish. We’ve all heard the tale of the emperor’s new clothes and as a survivalist I often wonder how long after the balloon goes up would it be until we start wearing similar clothing? Few people take into consideration the need to replace our attire in a post crisis America. Click here
Survivalist First Aid Checklist
November 22, 2010 - "Survivalist First Aid Checklist" By Joseph Parish. One can search the internet all day long and continually come up with another first aid checklist. Usually they all seem to contain similar items. Granted the products listed are critical in the event of a crisis but often the notations can provide a new insight into what otherwise appears as redundant. Hopefully, I have a least included some hints in my list that may have been missing from the others. If that’s the case then I feel I have accomplished my goal. Click here

There’s something about Hot Dogs
November 21, 2010 - "There’s something about Hot Dogs" By Joseph Parish. One of my favorite foods is the common hot dog. I view the frankfurter to be a better tasting food then the ever popular hamburger. When you take a good quality dog and add some brown mustard onto the roll it becomes paradise unlimited. Have you ever stopped to wonder where this strange food originated from? It certainly appears to be an all American traditional food as we readily find it at our baseball games around the country. Let’s face it a baseball game is not complete without a couple of good tasting dogs. Click here
Veterans Burial Benefits
November 21, 2010 - "Veterans Burial Benefits" By Joseph Parish. The vast majority of survivalists are veterans whether it be the current Iraqi wars or as in my case the Vietnam era conflict. As a veteran these brave men and women are afforded certain burial rights for the completion of their service to our country. The rights include the burial within a national cemetery as well as other benefits for the deceased veteran’s family. I would like to briefly review a few of these benefits as they relate to the death of the service member. Click here
Great for more than Lemon-Aid
November 21, 2010 - "Great for more than Lemon-Aid" By Joseph Parish. As survivalist we continually search for items which can “multitask” so to speak. We want supplies which can generally perform more with then a single work assignment. This saves us valuable space when planning our retreat or home emergency supplies. Here are a few of my favorite uses for lemons which perform well outside of their intended environment. Click here
