Building that Hurricane Survival kit

October 22, 2010 - "Building that Hurricane Survival kit" By Joseph Parish. Well for a brief period of time I thought our luck had run out and we had a hurricane heading directly towards us. Lucky for us it swerved towards the east at the last moment. We received a bit of rain and some winds but nothing serious. Once again we got lucky. Click here

Your Honor the Burgers Stink

October 21, 2010 - "Your Honor the Burgers Stink" By Joseph Parish. There are typically two sides to every account and the argument involving the District of Columbia hamburger shop is one of those situations. At first glance, one would be led to believe that the “Rogue States” hamburger restaurant was unfairly ordered to shut its doors this past month by DC Superior Court Judge John Mott. Click here

Will the German Third Reich Rise Again

October 20, 2010 - "Will the German Third Reich Rise Again?" By Joseph Parish. Upon initially investigating the announcement made by Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, I developed mixed feelings. On the one hand, I could concur with her assessment of the immigrant problems which her nation was now facing for we are seeing a similar dilemma here in America. Click here.

Hurricane Survival Bag

October 19, 2010 - "Hurricane Survival Bag" By Joseph Parish. We have all heard of the traditional 3 day bug out bag or the automotive emergency supply bob but now I would like to talk to you about something slightly different. We are currently full steam into the hurricane season. Every evening as we switch on the television set and watch the local weather reports, we are reminded by the various newscasters that there are developing tropical depressions off the coast of our southern most states. Is Operation Paperclip Still in Use

October 18, 2010 - "Is Operation Paperclip Still in Use?" By Joseph Parish. In the year 1945 the Third Reich was on the brink of defeat at the hands of Allied forces. It was not long before this collapse of Germany that the world finally learned of the horrors which the regime had inflicted upon there prisoners at Auschwitz and Dachau. After freeing the agonized men, women and children from the German prison camps the American forces discover volumes of military and scientific knowledge hidden within the confines of the barb wire fences. Retreat Group Personnel

October 17, 2010 - "Retreat Group Personnel" By Joseph Parish. The old adage stating there is safety in numbers is just as accurate today as it ever has been. This perception is especially significant when contemplating the safety of your family during emergency or crisis conditions in your immediate area. You often hear people discussing their retreat plans and what features they have incorporated within it. Click here

Locating Survival Group Members

October 16, 2010 - "Locating Survival Group Members" By Joseph Parish. Have you nonchalantly asked an acquaintance about the likelihood of him joining a local survival group? His reaction was likely to be a whimsical glance in your direction akin to you being from outer space. Unfortunately, not everyone shares the enthusiasm that we have towards being ready when any sort of emergency strikes. Granted, it may be exceptionally challenging to encourage these people to join your group but it certainly is not impossible. Click here.

Where have these bedbugs come from

October 15, 2010 - "Where have these bedbugs come from?" By Joseph Parish. Every day it appears like we turn on the television and discover another well-known department store announcing that they are now treating their location for the dreaded bed bugs. Here we are currently in a drastic fight to once again eradicate a pest that we once had previously gotten rid of. Click here

Preventing Mosquito Bites

October 13, 2010 - "Preventing Mosquito Bites" By Joseph Parish. Several evenings ago I sat down at the computer to compose some fresh articles for my website when out of nowhere I was bite by not just one mosquito but two. These twin blood suckers must have come into the house as I opened my back door to see what was going on in the yard. By now I would have thought we would no longer be bothered by these pesky nuisances but alas they are apparently still around. Click here

In 2013, the Sun will destroy all means of communication on Earth

October 12, 2010 - "In 2013, the Sun will destroy all means of communication on Earth" A frightening forecast was published recently by experts of Space Agency NASA. According to American astronomers, in 2013, after years of hibernation, the Sun will wake up, and Earth will be threatened with unfortunate consequences. Widespread outbreaks on the hot star can lead to a global failure of satellite communications. As a result, the planet is awaiting chaos. Click here

Organizing your Retreat Group

October 12, 2010 - "Organizing your Retreat Group" By Joseph Parish. Few of us have the financial resources to incorporate and support a vast number of people in our retreat groups. When you figure that a family typically consists of the husband and wife plus perhaps an average of two children we are looking at a huge number of people. This would necessitate sizeable facilities just to house that many people in an emergency, therefore most groups will limit their membership to a maximum of five families. Click here

Thoughts on blood sucking Mosquitoes

October 11, 2010 - "Thoughts on blood sucking Mosquitoes" By Joseph Parish. Several of us sat around the table the other evening talking about valid recommendations for combating mosquitoes during their biting season. It was brought out that many people today are reverting back to the wisdom of their grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Often these particular anecdotes are referred to as old wives tales however in many cases they have some basis in reality in what they propose. In this article I will list a few of the remedies we discovered and leave the final judgment up to you. Click here

An associate of Jerry Brown calls Meg Whitman a "whore" over pension reform

October 10, 2010 - "An associate of Jerry Brown calls Meg Whitman a "whore" over pension reform" Just as I said yesterday in my article, this kind of politicking has to stop. In a private conversation that was inadvertently taped by a voicemail machine, an associate of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown can be heard referring to his Republican opponent Meg Whitman as a “whore” for cutting a deal protecting law enforcement pensions as the two candidates competed for police endorsements. October 9, 2010 - "Couple State took our baby" By Daniel Barrick. The Political Ox

October 9, 2010 - "The Political Ox" By Joseph Parish. I watch the television and see all the political commercials and have to wonder what our political system has evolved into these days. Years ago such arguments were rare and hardily as strong as they are today. It all reminds me of a story I was once told. Hopefully members of both political parties will take heed in the wisdom displayed in this tale. Click here

Oh No Welts Again

October 8, 2010 - "Oh No Welts Again" By Joseph Parish. I had recently gotten over being bitten by mosquitoes at my home and decided to visit with a friend. He’s sort of an outdoor type person so he decided we should sit on his rear patio. Unfortunately for me his patio face his fish pond. So once again, being the magnet that I am I arrived home itching and with mosquito bite welts all over me. Click here

What happens to your food after a flood

October 7, 2010 - "What happens to your food after a flood?" By Joseph Parish. Well, it was a good year for storing up on food. As any prepper or survivalist would do I accumulated a variety of different foods that could be used during an emergency to save my life and that of my family. What I had not counted on was the flood that came later. I have heard these statements so often and they are usually followed by, “What can I do with my food now?” Click here

Taking Care of your Survival Books

October 6, 2010 - "Taking Care of your Survival Books" By Joseph Parish. I haven’t always collected e-books to enhance my reading enjoyment or to preserve my many facets of survival knowledge. Volcano Movie and Me

October 5, 2010 - "Volcano Movie and Me" By Joseph Parish. As many of my close friends and associates may already be aware of I have currently returned to school in an effort to obtain a degree in Emergency Management. I had previously taken a large number of FEMA classes on location as well as online in an effort to hone up my knowledge of emergency actions. You may ask why I would even want to do such work. The answer is simply I enjoy the thought of working at a job that offers me a degree of satisfaction and I feel that I can best contribute something useful to the emergency actions program as well. Dealing with the Dead

October 4, 2010 - "Dealing with the Dead" By Joseph Parish. After every natural or man made calamity the survivors always end up with bodies strewn around the disaster area. Our Daily Bread

October 3, 2010 - "Our Daily Bread" Here is a movie that was made in 1934 entitled "Our Daily Bread. This story is based upon a group of down-on-their-luck workers combine their abilities to make a Gallafentian-style commune... and bread! With our current economy as it is and the desire for more retreats perhaps this movie is worth watching. Other then the idea of a retreat style farm there really wasn't much of a plot to the movie. Travel Intelligence Gathering

September 30, 2010 - "Travel Intelligence Gathering" By Joseph Parish. When America’s infrastructure comes crashing down over our heads there are sure to be some areas of the nation that would not be safe to maneuver in. In fact, to be honest with you some of those areas are not safe now to be passing through. It only stands to reason that in situations such as these we as survivalists would try to avoid them completely. Click here

Surviving Economic Collapse

September 29, 2010 - "Surviving Economic Collapse" By Joseph Parish. As preppers or survivalists we frequently consider preparations as something intended for when the world has finally pushed those lethal buttons and nuclear bombs have departed for many of the world’s largest cities. We center our survival kits upon scenarios intended for total destruction with a hopeful overview of getting started fresh once again. Few people reflect upon their survival supplies with the implication of economic preparations to get us over the economies downside. Click here

September 28, 2010 - "Collard Green Soup" By Joseph Parish. One of my favorite categories of food is soup especially during the fall and winter season. Survivalist Pepper Spray plan

September 27, 2010 - "Survivalist Pepper Spray plan" By Joseph Parish. Have you considered stocking some pepper spray in your emergency survival supply bags? Pepper spray has been used for decades now in the field of self defense primarily in the area of riot and crowd control, as well as for a defense against bears and vicious dogs. Its major ingredient is capsaicin which is the same content that provides the heat found in chili peppers. Pepper spray has been referred to by many names including OC spray which means Oleoresin Capsicum, capsicum spray or simply OC gas. Click here

The Child Spirit

September 25, 2010 - "The Child Spirit" By Joseph Parish. Here is a little short fiction I wrote to pass the time. The streets of Singapore were exceptionally silent as the hands of my watch revealed it was now two AM. The usual shops that are typically so active in the daytime were now long closed while the areas nighttime activities were also drawing to a close. One would only sporadically encounter another person on the street and the solitary movements noticed were a few abandoned cats sneaking around for discarded garbage, hoping for a morsel of fish or a small sliver of meat. There are many dangerous and potentially disturbing situations that could crop up during any survival groups related setting. Teamwork means exactly as it say where everyone works together for the benefit of the project. Unfortunately, that would be true only if we lived in a perfect world and we all realize that is certainly not the case, so we are prone to discover various pitfalls as we deal with others. Reading between the lines

September 24, 2010 - "Reading between the lines" By Joseph Parish. The principles of survival may be based upon certain textbook rules but Mother Nature and America’s enemies don’t always cooperate and follow those same established rules as we learn in class. The major hurricane which is heading rapidly up the eastern seaboard may unrepentantly turn inwards and head directly towards our home and family. The foreign terrorist agents of destruction might unload their wrath upon a busy metropolis where we are about to partake in a summer vacation. What can we do in situations as these? Click here

Survival Food Dehydrating

September 24, 2010 - "Survival Food Dehydrating" By Joseph Parish. The art of drying food is one of the world’s oldest methods conceived to preserve food in times of plenty for moments of need. From ages long ago people have reliably used the sun, wind, or a smoking fire to remove water from various fruits, grains, herbs and meats. By its very definition, the concept of food dehydration is listed as the process of removing liquid from a food by the use of circulating hot air around it. Click here

Your Choice Stun Guns or Tasers

September 17, 2010 - "Your Choice Stun Guns or Tasers" By Joseph Parish. No one wants to kill another human being even in the line of self defense unless they are psychologically unstable. Unfortunately, there are times when I foresee that this may be the only alternative. I would venture to say that even a hardened criminal has a bit of concern over the death of another person. As survivors and preppers we know that at some point in time we may have to defend ourselves, our family or protect our possessions. This puts us on the verge of possibly causing another’s untimely death. Click here
