Bug out Games for kids when on an exercise

April 11, 2009 - "Bug out Games for Kids when on an exercise" By Joseph Parish. When assessing your Bug out procedures and you are in the process of having an actual exercise, it is always necessary to try to put ourselves into the place of our children. Let us face it we as adults can converse with each other during the trip however often times the children are stuck in the back seat of our BOV with nothing whatsoever to do. To me this is very unacceptable. Not only does it turn the children off to the concept of survival but it also does not teach them anything but contempt for emergency actions. Click here

On the Value of MP3 Players in Bug Out vehicles

March 23, 2009 - I recently wrote an article entitled "On the value of MP3 Players in Bug Out vehicles". This was an article that was placed on the web site and stressed the use of the old time radio shows during bug out situations. As such I have uploaded a CD worth of these old radio shows. These are in MP3 format and in order to play in a normal CD would need to be converted. Click here

How Far Can You Go?

March 20, 2009 - "How far can you go?" By Joseph Parish. I have always been very keen on imagining scenarios and events that can perchance curtail a necessary bug out. In fact, I pride myself in perceiving just how far I am able to travel safely when bugging out becomes necessary. By safely I mean a combination of an tolerable distance, mileage that is reasonable and the lack of un-necessary delays. Let me take a moment and go into a little further detail in relation to these requirements. Click here

The nuisance of biting bugs during a bug out

March 19, 2009 - "The nuisance of biting bugs during a bug out" By Joseph Parish. Proper planning must be taken in order to ensure that you and your family are not devoured by biting bugs during a bug out. Most of the current insect repellents on the market today use DEET as the active ingredient. You will find it in just about the entire over the counter product line that you can purchase. Supposedly, the DEET in the repellants today can be safely used on children as young as two months old as well as on adults. Click here

On the value of MP3 Players in Bug Out Vehicles

March 9, 2009 - "On the value of MP3 Players in Bug Out vehicles" By Joseph Parish. When we reach the point of no return and have to make that ultimate decision as to stay or go we want to do so with as little discomfort as possible. I know this sounds a little petty however lets consider for one moment the amount of time that we could perhaps be in hiding. One month? Perhaps several months? Maybe even as much as 6 to 12 months. In a case like that I could just about guarantee that radio stations will no longer be broadcasting. Television will certainly be non-existent at this time. Even if the infrastructure was still present most operators and maintenance people would be with their families and not at work. Click here

Winter Bug Out Exercise

February 25, 2009 - "Winter Bug out Exercise" By Joseph Parish. When a crisis is about to befall us we can never know what time of the year it will occur and as such we must be prepared. We would all hope that if and when it happens we will have fair weather but that is certainly one thing that we can not count upon. Click here

Communications Capabilities

February 24, 2009 - "Communications Capabilities" By Joseph Parish. One of the foremost questions that many people ask is what they can do about obtaining valuable information and communicating with other people during times of crisis. Let’s face it our cell phones may not be much use to us after the emergency generators that operate the cell phone towers run out of fuel and are effectively dead. Click here

RV Food Storage

February 1, 2009 - "RV food storage" I did cover this before, but I understand that my huge reader growth, rivaling that of the birthrate of an infertility clinic, dictates that I cover this again. Click here
