The key to urban survival

February 7, 2011 - "The key to urban survival" By Joseph Parish. While talking to a newly found homeless friend nicknamed Samuel on the dangerous streets of New Jersey recently I was informed that his utmost asset for surviving lied in his ability to maintain a low profile and operate in a “stealth” mode. Not everyone is compassionate for those who are unemployed or lacking any means of livelihood. These people are frequently look upon as non-human and must continually be vigilant in the event that the wrong person would discover that they were residing in their BOV. It doesn’t matter to some that these conditions were imposed upon the person by our current economic conditions and their only thought is to do something malicious towards the homeless individual. Proof that Urban Survival is Possible

February 7, 2010 - "Proof that Urban Survival is Possible" By Joseph Parish. In view of the developments which are currently taking place in Cairo one has to wonder if urban survival is possible during such turbulent times. Rioting and looting seem to have no restraints as a crisis situation looms overhead. Not only are these dangers present during a possible infrastructure breakdown but they are clearly visible during earthquakes, floods and hurricanes. With our economy reaching an all time low there are greater chances of people becoming homeless and having no recourse but to live on the street. They will have no recourse except to live in various parking lots or on lonely side streets since shelter space is rapidly becoming a rare commodity. Click here

Can Egyptian unrest spread to America

February 4, 2011 - "Can Egyptian unrest spread to America?" By Joseph Parish. As American survivalists it would do us good to monitor and survey the Aljazeera television broadcasts as the drama unfolds in the current Egyptian unrest. Keep a careful eye tuned as the country falls apart during its turbulent days of a new revolution. So far in this grime chapter of mid-east history there have been over 100 people who have lost their lives while several thousand are seriously injured. I imagine the question being posed in many American circles is, “Can this happen here in America?” Click here

Starting a food storage program

February 1, 2011 - "Starting a food storage program" By Joseph Parish. A prepper I know recently confided in me as to their confusion of what to store up on for a potential emergency. Their major concern was the great changes that we are seeing in our weather across the country. They stated that if the conditions get too drastic the supply trucks will not be able to get to the local grocery stores and as a result the shelves will remain vacant. This is rightfully a valid concern and I was glad that at least the consideration had prompt a desire to stock up on food supplies. Click here

It appears that no country is immune to this crisis. click here

Surviving in a post Cell phone free era

January 30, 2011 - "Surviving in a post Cell phone free era" By Joseph Parish. With over 153 million cell phones in our nation it is awkward to imagine life without them. From the moment we awaken in the morning until the time we close our eyes in the evening our complete daily schedule revolves around the use of these cellular marvels. At least one time per day any individual will either receive a call or a text message or make an outgoing transmission. It is a challenging task these days to locate someone who does not have a cell phone. The problem I envision is can Americans survival without these modern inventions in a post calamity world? Air Force bombs South Carolina

January 27, 2011 - "Air Force bombs South Carolina" By Joseph Parish. Picture yourself as Captain Earl Koehler, a young military pilot of a B-52 and you have been tasked to fly a special mission. This special mission involves transporting two nuclear bombs in support of “Operation Snow Flurry” to some unknown North African location. Your home station is Hunter Air Force Base just outside of Savannah, Georgia. You begin this mission as you would any other by carefully reviewing your aircraft pre-flight checklist. As you conclude your flight checks you deem all system are a go and cast a quick glance skyward. All seems well with the weather and you are blessed with a clear and bright sky so you anticipate no particular problems. Click here

Isn’t it time to come clean

January 27, 2011 - "Isn’t it time to come clean?" By Joseph Parish. America’s CIA started its life in 1947 as a civilian intelligence agency which reported directly to the director of our National Intelligence Agency. Notice I stressed the word “civilian” in my first sentence. Although it was conceived as a civilian agency it is surprising how many operatives are addressed as major or colonel. In addition to providing its expert advice on security matters to higher up officials, it is also heavily engaged in various covert activities as directed by the United States President. Click here

In days of old when knights were bold or learning from Medieval Weapons

January 25, 2011 - "In days of old when knights were bold or learning from Medieval Weapons" By Joseph Parish. I am a big time fan of history and in particular that history which deals with wars and battle strategy. I believe that even modern day warriors can often learn something from the various military leaders of long past ages. Imagine for a moment that you could jump into a time machine and travel back to the year 1232. Before you lies a huge Saxon castle in Northern Europe busy fending off an enemy attack. Click here

Man and women will continue to fall in love regardless of what the economic or physical condition of the country may be. Naturally when a couple are in love the possibility of children will become a grave concern. Click here

Storing up on sugar

Another less common sugar is pimentose which you will find in olives and lastly we encounter sucrose which is abundant in our usual table sugar. Click here

Water for the Masses

January 22, 2011 - "Water for the Masses" By Joseph Parish. Human’s are unlike other mammals and they require an abundance of water in order to survive. When you think about it our bodies are composed of about 70% water. We find it in the body’s cells and it plays a vital function in just about every bodily process. In view of the value placed upon water by our body it is important that we quickly replace that water which is lost during our normal daily activities. Click here

Dehydrating Tomato Sauce

January 22, 2011 - "Dehydrating Tomato Sauce" By Joseph Parish. After a recent survival group meeting which I attended, I returned home to do some of my famous experimenting. No longer is it necessary to purchase commercial instant tomato sauces such as those offered by “Mrs. Wages”. My goal today was to create a dehydrated tomato sauce product specifically designed for survivalist food storage. During a time of crisis I feel our best chances of survival lies in dehydrated food over those refrigerated or frozen entrees. Click here

Emergency Shelter Basics

January 21, 2011 - "Emergency Shelter Basics" By Joseph Parish. As you wander in the woods, night time is quickly approaching and you suddenly realize that you are hopelessly lost. You have inadvertently disregarded just about every survival trick you had been learned or been taught. You forgot and left your compass at home on your bedroom dresser. Wiping you know what without toilet paper

January 19, 2011 - "Wiping you know what without toilet paper" By Joseph Parish. In every survivalist mind we have the following question sitting and waiting an answer however in most cases the individual is too embarrassed to openly ask the question. I will save everyone the red face of mortification and bring the topic out into the open at this time. When preparing for emergency situations people are often curious as to what they would have to do about toilet paper usage when the infrastructure declines and possibly remains permanently disabled. Dehydrating Cheese Slices

January 15, 2011 - "Dehydrating Cheese Slices" By Joseph Parish. My family likes to indulge in a treat of cheese slices served with a tasty selection of sliced homemade bread. The problem is when we purchase the cheese in bulk from our local SAM’s Club it is frequently too much for us to finish. As a result of that we waste a good portion of the product. Germs abound but no Silver to combat them

January 14, 2011 - "Germs abound but no Silver to combat them" By Joseph Parish. Many people feel that if they take their daily supply of vitamins that they will be germ free however that is not the case. When you prepare your bug out kits you should naturally include some vitamins in it however don’t expect the vitamins to combat any germs you might encounter. Vitamins such as those that you frequently take at home during normal day to day activities are a great addition to maintaining a balanced healthy body but simply can not fight germs. These particular vitamin supplements which you currently use should hold a permanent place in your kits as they will afford some measure of help towards increasing your vigor. Click here
