Couple State took our baby

October 9, 2010 - "Couple State took our baby" By Daniel Barrick. An Epsom couple says state social workers seized their newborn baby hours after her birth because of the father's affiliation with an organization that opposes government tyranny. State officials, however, cited domestic violence and child abuse allegations against the baby's father in taking her into state custody. Click here

The Political Ox

October 9, 2010 - "The Political Ox" By Joseph Parish. I watch the television and see all the political commercials and have to wonder what our political system has evolved into these days. Years ago such arguments were rare and hardily as strong as they are today. It all reminds me of a story I was once told. Hopefully members of both political parties will take heed in the wisdom displayed in this tale. Click here

Oh No Welts Again

October 8, 2010 - "Oh No Welts Again" By Joseph Parish. I had recently gotten over being bitten by mosquitoes at my home and decided to visit with a friend. He’s sort of an outdoor type person so he decided we should sit on his rear patio. Unfortunately for me his patio face his fish pond. So once again, being the magnet that I am I arrived home itching and with mosquito bite welts all over me. Click here

What happens to your food after a flood

October 7, 2010 - "What happens to your food after a flood?" By Joseph Parish. Well, it was a good year for storing up on food. As any prepper or survivalist would do I accumulated a variety of different foods that could be used during an emergency to save my life and that of my family. What I had not counted on was the flood that came later. I have heard these statements so often and they are usually followed by, “What can I do with my food now?” Click here

Taking Care of your Survival Books

October 6, 2010 - "Taking Care of your Survival Books" By Joseph Parish. I haven’t always collected e-books to enhance my reading enjoyment or to preserve my many facets of survival knowledge. At one period in my life I had a formal library in my home featuring an abundance array of regular hardback books. I had a selection of books which instruct4ed me on how to just do anything that one could conceive. Click here

Mouth to mouth not better for cardiac arrest survival studies say

October 5, 2010 - "Mouth to mouth not better for cardiac arrest survival studies say" By Elizabeth Cooney. You are walking down a street in Boston and see someone suddenly collapse. Worried, you call 911. The Boston EMS dispatcher asks you where you are and whether the person is awake or breathing. You say no and the dispatcher asks if you’d be willing to do CPR until the ambulance arrives. Click here

Volcano Movie and Me

October 5, 2010 - "Volcano Movie and Me" By Joseph Parish. As many of my close friends and associates may already be aware of I have currently returned to school in an effort to obtain a degree in Emergency Management. I had previously taken a large number of FEMA classes on location as well as online in an effort to hone up my knowledge of emergency actions. You may ask why I would even want to do such work. The answer is simply I enjoy the thought of working at a job that offers me a degree of satisfaction and I feel that I can best contribute something useful to the emergency actions program as well. Dealing with the Dead

October 4, 2010 - "Dealing with the Dead" By Joseph Parish. After every natural or man made calamity the survivors always end up with bodies strewn around the disaster area. It then becomes their unfortunate task to appropriately dispose of those bodies in a manner that would be morally accepted while providing a measure of safety for those who are still alive. Our Daily Bread

October 3, 2010 - "Our Daily Bread" Here is a movie that was made in 1934 entitled "Our Daily Bread. This story is based upon a group of down-on-their-luck workers combine their abilities to make a Gallafentian-style commune... and bread! With our current economy as it is and the desire for more retreats perhaps this movie is worth watching. Other then the idea of a retreat style farm there really wasn't much of a plot to the movie. Build a chicken feeder on the cheep

October 3, 2010 - "Build a chicken feeder on the cheep" By Linda Slate. While searching for a large quantity (five pounds or more) feeder for my backyard flock, I kept running into the same problem—cost. My last trip to the farm store found two choices, neither less than $30. One of the kids remarked the feeder looked like an upside-down bucket sitting in the dog food bowl so I started thinking, "Hmm...it sure does." Click here
