The Positive Survivalist Attitude

December 9, 2010 - "The Positive Survivalist Attitude" By Joseph Parish. To survive a post catastrophic world we have to develop a positive attitude concerning the situation which we find ourselves in. Remember the old saying that says, “When life provides you with lemons its time to make lemonade.” It’s important for survivalists to dig deeply into the issues at hand and try to retrieve the potential good within the crisis. Granted, seeking out the good in a bad situation won’t be easy but it offers several advantages over merely accepting the issue at its worse case and leaving it at that. Click here

Judging your food safety

December 9, 2010 - "Judging your food safety" By Joseph Parish. Have you ever watched a pack of wild dogs’ attack a dead animal carcass as it lies on the side of the highway? Perhaps you have seen buzzard’s busy devouring a dead deer that has been sitting in a field for four or five days. There’s a very good chance that the meat that has been laying there for several days in the hot sun and has gone rancid and is quickly rotting. Bacteria content may have progressed to the point where you can gradually see the carcass beginning to rot away. Generally, it would not be a good practice to eat meat under those types of circumstances. Click here

The Illegals

December 8, 2010 - "The Illegals" by Joseph Parish. It seems like every week another alien species invades America’s waters usually with some very detrimental effects upon the native species. As a result of these unwanted additions to our waters every state has been forced to adopt illegal fish laws to combat these dangerous creatures; however they still somehow manage to invade our territorial waterways. Perhaps they were at one time part of someone’s fish collection and simply got too large for them to contain properly within their fish tank or they may have accidentally escaped their confines. Either way these species of fish generally kill off the natural fish in the area and unfortunately encounter no natural predators within their new found home. Click here

Nothing brings back enjoyable memories as much as the thoughts associated with the days when one would selectively toss a small spinner into their favorite trout catching location and finally nab that record fish that had been evading you all day long. After the battle is over and you sit resting on the edge of the water you consider how many different lures you utilized before finally picking just the right on to make your capture. Click here

The First Survival Training

December 6, 2010 - "The First Survival Training" By Joseph Parish. I can proudly say that one of my biggest fans has to be my wife. When we were sitting down one evening just before our Thanksgiving feast she causally stated, “Didn’t you once say that the pilgrims did not have turkey for dinner”. Naturally she remembered my wording exactly as I had stated it many years previously. Click here
