The Survival Pantry

January 24, 2009 - "The Survival Pantry" I came across this post over at the Simple Dollar today and it got me thinking about one of the most important parts of the survivalist's home, the pantry. Many people think about food preps as a separate entity from day to day living. In your food stores you may have bags of rice, bags of wheat, and a vat of cooking oil, but it is the items contained in your pantry that will pull the stored items together to make a meal. Having a full pantry also means that you never have to run to the store at the last minute or order out because "there is nothing to eat". Here's the items that I keep in my pantry and which I also keep back ups of in my survival food supplies. Click here

Fiction for Survivalists

January 22, 2009- "Fiction for survivalists" By Joseph Parish. As some of my closest friends know I save all my survival information onto CD’s so that I can use them with a laptop as I am making my way to my survival retreat. Often times when I create a survival CD with my survival information placed on it I will frequently include books which are of a fictional nature and not at all associated with the topic of survival or even survivalists. Over a period of time several people have approached me and inquired as to why I create the CD with fiction on it and I thought that it was time that I explained my reasoning to my readers. A Delightful Lemon Tainted Bread

January 21, 2009 - "A delightful Lemon Tainted Bread" By Joseph Parish. As most people who are familiar with me know I enjoy making and experimenting with various types of homemade bread ranging from flatbreads fried in a skillet to those complete loaves made in a bread machine. In view of my last article on preserving lemons I thought I would also add my recipe for bread that includes a touch of lemon. Click here

Too much BOB junk

January 20, 2009 - "Too much BOB junk" By Joseph Parish. Ahhh, here we have the sweet life of a survivalist. Every now and then I decide to get away from it all and jump in the bug out van and merely travel a short distance from civilization. It tends to opens up ones sense of survival and produces some clear thinking. I made this exact decision just the other day. I packed up the laptop computer so that I could still do a bit of writing and headed for parts of Delaware that are relatively unknown. I took my cell phone in the event of an emergency and off I went. Click here

Just Any Thermometer Won't Do

January 19, 2009 - "Just Any Thermometer Won’t Do" By Joseph Parish. A visit to your local kitchen gadget store will quickly make you realize that there is more then one type of thermometer that you can purchase for your kitchen tasks. It doesn’t matter whether the thermometer that you are buying will be used in your refrigerator or in your oven as you bake that next turkey dinner, they all have their similarities as well as their differences. Thermometers are basically a tool that you use in food preparation to ensure that you prepare a safe and well cooked meal. Click here

Citrus all year round

January 18, 2009 - "Citrus all year round" By Joseph Parish. I like to garbage garden as I call it. I will take sees that one would normally toss into the trash and plant them. The majority of the time I have a certain degree of success in growing these plants. One of them that I usually do very well with is lemons and oranges. Most citrus fruits are similar to what I am about to say. Click here
