Survival Group Organization

April 24, 2009 – “Survival Group Organization” The old saying that there is safety in numbers is just as valid today as it ever has been. During those emergency situations where a friendly hand is needed and like minded people are desired a small select survival group is of utmost importance. With that thought in mind Delmarva Survival Training has been trying to gather together a small group of people who think, sleep and live survival. We want useful people who truly desires to not only survive but to help contribute to our community resolves. If you are interested in joining such a group please send me an email with your name, location and a means of verbally contacting you to joseph.parish@survival-training.info

Survival Kits

April 18, 2009 - "Survival Kits" - One of the most watched television shows today is CBS's Survivor. This show is anything but reality, as it focuses more on the game of adventure than the real aspect of survival situations. Of course, in the real world, survival is not a fun escapade. There are no exciting challenges and there is no such thing as immunity. Click here

A Good Portable Wire Antenna

April 14, 2009 - "A Good Portable Wire Antenna" by Joseph Parish. When dealing with emergency communications there is one simple item that you really must have and that is a good communications antenna. Many survivalists have asked if there is such a thing as a simple antenna made specifically for shortwave listening. The main concern here is one, which could be transported in a backpack and rigged up in only a couple of minutes. The basic principle here is the option of stringing it up quickly between several trees. Click here

Bug out Games for kids when on an exercise

April 11, 2009 - "Bug out Games for Kids when on an exercise" By Joseph Parish. When assessing your Bug out procedures and you are in the process of having an actual exercise, it is always necessary to try to put ourselves into the place of our children. Let us face it we as adults can converse with each other during the trip however often times the children are stuck in the back seat of our BOV with nothing whatsoever to do. To me this is very unacceptable. Not only does it turn the children off to the concept of survival but it also does not teach them anything but contempt for emergency actions. Click here

Survival Medicine

April 8, 2009 - "Survival Medicine" This part of your survival plan should never be overlooked. Having the right type of medicine in your first aid kit is beneficial if you get lost in the wilderness or if you are faced with the issue of surviving. Most store bought first aid kits include pain relievers such as: Advil®, Tylenol®, or other types of ibuprofen or aspirin. When you need a pain reliever, these medicines quickly relieve your suffering, depending on the degree of pain. But what if you don’t have anymore medicine and you find yourself in dire need of relief? What should you use to alleviate the pain and suffering. Click here

April 7, 2009 - "Homemade Firestarters" Making homemade firestarters is quite simple and easy. Some may ask: What’s the point of making my own firestarters at home when I can by matches at the store. The answer is simple also. Making homemade firestarters is cost-effective and doing so will increase your knowledge of basic wilderness survival. Homemade firestarters can be made from just about anything in your home. Click here

Can you still find frogs to eat?

March 31, 2009 - "Can you still find frogs to eat?" By Joseph Parish. I recently read that the high demand for frog legs for human consumption has been making these creatures a bit on the scarce side. It appears that there is a vast decline in frog population in the wild due to over exploitation of them for foods both in America and Europe. It will not be long before the number of catches that you can have will be limited. In fact I fully expect that you will be required to have a Frog license just the same as a fishing license is currently required. Click here

Should we be very scared?

March 28, 2009 - "Should we be very scared?" By Joseph Parish. Yellowstone National Park is the home to one of the world’s largest and most active volcanic systems. During he last several million years this area has produced some giant volcanic eruptions. As of this date we have not experienced any eruptions which contain volcanic ash or lava however future eruptions may likely contain both of these dangerous contents. We may be lucky and all we will see are some ongoing hot spring activities, an occasional steam explosion and perhaps even a few moderate to large size earthquakes. Click here

Storing Condiments

March 24, 2009 - "Storing Condiments" I would like to share a little hint with my site visitors. If you happen to think that I am a little on the weird side then think about what I am going to say for just a little bit longer. Regardless of what I happen to be doing I am always on the lookout for anything that relates to survival. In this case I am referring to the free condiment packages which are usually provided with fast food. I currently have managed to save a small pail of these valuable items as well as purchasing many of my own. Click here

Survival Radio Station

March 20, 2009 - We are currently considering the possibility of putting an internet radio online. I would certainly be interested in some feedback in regards to whether you as a survivalist would use the radio if it were installed. Time to check out your supplies

March 17, 2009 - "Time to check out your Supplies" By Joseph Parish. Well, we recently changed our clocks and at the same time we were advised to replace the batteries in our smoke detectors. Although this is sensible recommendations, I think that it should have been extended just a wee bit more and ought to have incorporated inspecting our preparedness supplies as well. Click here

Bug out Camp

March 11, 2009 - "Bug out Camp" By Joseph Parish. Everyday I pick up the daily newspaper and read about another small business closing their doors or even worse I see major corporations requesting additional government funds in order to continue their operations. These types of newspaper headlines tend to scare the dickens out of me. Obama’s budget breaking stimulus plan does not appear to be having much of an effect upon this situation in the least. How your Spouse feels about your preparedness efforts

March 10, 2009 - "How your spouse feels about your preparedness efforts" By Joseph Parish. Years ago as I began to store up on food my family looked at me with strange glances. They really thought I had lost my marbles. Along came Y2K and as I increased my preparedness efforts the looks increased drastically. The going joke in the home was that the food being stored was my children’s inheritance. (Think about that statement for a few minutes and you will see the true value in it). Click here
